Russian spy Anna Chapman's British passport reviewed

The Home Office says it is ''ugently reviewing'' whether Russian spy Anna Chapman may keep her passport. her lawyer has said she would like to come to the UK as she has a passport trough her former marriage. Anna Chapman was one of the ten Russian agent who were flown to Vienna hours after they admitted in a US court to being agents for a foreign country (Russia). The ten Russian spies were exchanged for four US spies. A spokesperson for the Home Office said: ''The home secretary had the right to deprive dual nationals of their British citizenship where she considers that to do so would be conductive to the public good. This case is under urgent consideration. Home Secretary thinks that it cannot be in their interest to let her settle in the UK.

http://news.bbc.uk.co/2/hi/uk/10580740.stm

Ah if only I wouldn't be distracted by her looks. No serious, she is good looking. But it may not make any difference on their dicision. If she was to spy in the US she would probably do the same in the UK. A Dutch wisdom says: ''preventing is better than solving.'' When I first heard about the spies I feld like a little boy again. I thought that things as spies only still existed in movies. I thought that spies were someting of the cold war but I was wrong and they're hot just like in the movies.

Dentist 'faked car crash death'

A dentist, father of four children, is to stand trial over claims that the dentist faked his own death in a car crash last year. after his ''death'' the dentist moved to the other side of the country with a fresh identity. His wife and her sister claimed his 1.75 million pound life insurance. After financial institution had complaints, the police became suspicious. The dentist, his wife and her sister are charged with consiracy to defraud financial institutions. the three defendants were sent back in custody. next year they will have to stand trial.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/scotland/north_east_orkney_and_shetland/10574197

Dentist already make a lot of money. that this dentist is not satisfied is jus disgusting. It would surprise me if people from the working class are willing to fake their own deaths and are wiling te give up their live, so this surprises me even more. Just to live at the other side of the country with 1.75 m pound. on their bank account. fortunately they have been caught. this man deserves a really big fine and the loss of disposal of his financials. his wife and her siser should be in jail. I wouldn't put the father in jail because then the children would become orphans.

Infection concerns over hospital

Health inpector show concern that infection control procedures are not being followed at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, Scotland. The Healthcare Environment Inspectorate (HEI) said the hospital was generally clean and in good condition but it found out not all staff followed good infection control practice and saw areas of poor communication. NHS Lanarkshire will follow an urgent and zero tolerance approach to tackle those problems. The risk for patients, staff and visitors to acquire an infection must be as low as zero. A spokesman for the Hairmyres Hospital says ''the hospital is glad with the strict inspection on hospitals in Britain and that they will handle with the problems as expected.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/glasgow_and_west/10553468.stm

As the spokesman of the hospital says, I think we may be glad that the inspection on hospitals in Britain is strict. I can't believe that staf is not well informed about infection control practices, those things should be the first thing you learn or else you shouldn't work in a hospital. as the article states, you are not only risking your own health but also the health of others. A good solution for this problem might be comparing the hygiene in public so the hospitals have to compeed with each other.

Tour de France: Cavendish weeps for joy after sprint win

Yesterday in Montargis, Britain's Mark Cavendish was able to claim his eleventh Tour day victory; it was his first of this year and the most important. his huge yell of triumph as he crossed the line over a bike's length from Gerald Ciolek, followed by tears of joy on the podium confirmed how bad he wanted to win. After dominating sprinting for almost three years, cavendish's 2010 season hadn't seen any victory so far. ''The pressure has been terrible'', Cavendish claimed, but yesterday the rider who had appeared unbeatable in 2009 was finally back on top of his game. He said that his tough season had matured him. Yesterday after a week of criticism and self-doubt, Cavendish was back with the widespread recognition of his status as the sport's top sprinter. ''he's still the fastest rider in the world,'' said sprint jersey leader, Thor Hushovd, ''and today he showed that.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/others/tour-de-france-cavendish-weeps-for-joy-after-sprint-win-2021976

This is the most beautiful moment of the Tour de France so far. The day before his day victory he lost the sprint on a terrible manner. Other sprinters passed on the the left and the right side, there was nothing he could do except stop cycling. After his loss he was so mad and irritated he started to throw with his bike. Cavendish was always somebody with excessive pride so this has put him right in his place again. I still expect a lot more from him.

Howard Webb to complete ultimate refereeing double of championsleague and Wold Cup finals

Howard Webb completed the ultimate refereeing double as he was appointed to take charge of the World Cup final last night. The former South Yorkshire Copper will become the first referee to whistle the World Cup Final and Champions league final in the when he referees Sunday's showdown between Spain and Holland. Webb and his assistants, Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey, were also in control in the clash between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich during the Champions league final. They will become the fourth English trio to oversee the worlds biggest game. Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: ''we see the hard work and are confident they will bring the match to a good end. Hints from the Fifa say that this will be the last match with this scheme of assistants, referring to the two extra assistants they allready had during the UEFA Cup.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/English-referee-Howard-Webb-to-complete-ultimate-refereeing-double-of-Champions-League-and-World-cup-finals-article520729.html

In my opinion Howard Webb the Master of Refereeing. Not only because of the discissions he makes during the games but also his charisma contributes to the respect of the viewers, players and football boards. Overall, I think that English referees are the best in the world because they let the game go on and only blow their whistle when neccesary. When it comes to the two extra assistants I think a very good job is done here. I am pleeing for this since I watch football. I would rather see video assitance but this is already a big step in the right direction.

Woman loses court battle over garden access

Successful hedge fund chief Mina Gerowin Herrmann lost around 150,000 pounds trying to get into the garden of her london square home. The jugde trew out her claim against te Royal Borough of Kensington and the committee which refused the couple a key to the exlusive amenity surrounded by fences. They now face paying the costs of the case estimated some 173,000 pounds. Mrs Hermann moved from New York and bought the house after being assured by solicitors that they had the right to use the locked garden. As the hous itself has no garden this was considered a big deal for her and her husband. The couple claimed that under the Kensington Improvement Act of 1851 they were entitled to a share of the garden because they lived in a house within the square area. The judge found the Act unclear as it didn't say which houses included in the square. He came to the clear conclusion that houses with a front or side facing into the square where covered, the house of Hermann does not.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/woman-loses-court-battle-over-garden-access-2022635.html

The first thing that is noticed was that it were Americans. offcourse it were Americans because anyone else wouln't make a case out of it. When I read on and thought about it I agreed with them. If the key to the garden came with the house the house would be worth a lot more. I also think that it is a bit naïve to not inform at the Royal Borough of Kensington if the solicitors had spoken the truth about the key. If it is so important to you, check it first.

GPs to take control of patient funds

Ministers are pressing ahead with plans to give GPs control over 80bn pounds of NHS funding wich will see them arrange medical services for their patients. A ''white paper'' due next week will spell out plans for changes to the health service. It will probably lead to thousands of job losses among NHS managers and Administrators. The move will put GPs in charge of deciding which hospital or facility should provide care for their patients. they will also pay for the treatment and become responsible for the 80bn pounds of spending. GPs will be obliged to take on these responsibilitie, which may not please those who wish to concentrate on patient care. It is expected the plans will save up to 8bn pounds. It is unclear if GPs, who earn an average of 106,000 pounds, will be paid for the extra work.

http://guardian.co.uk/society/2010/jul/09/gps-patient-conservatives-nhs

This article was a bit unclear to me, this is why I left some parts out of this summary and only wrote down main idea of this article. I think that this system will more fair than any other system. So if you don't have a lot of money to affort a good health insurance it is still possible that your medical costs will be paid by the GPs. What does concern me is that GPs won't have enough time to handle al those task and probably need to hire someone. What means that the NHS managers will back where they were only under supervision of a GP.

Huge hoard of Roman coins found on Somerset farm

The largest single hoard of Roman coins ever found is Britain has been dug up at a farm near Frome in Somerset. A total of 52.500 bronze and silver coins dating from the 3rd century AD were found by Dave Crisp, a hobby metal detectorist from Devizes, Wiltshire. The hoard also included the largest set of coins minted by the self proclaimed emperor Carausius ever found. Crisp first dug up a fingernail-sized bronze coin only 30cm below the surface. when he dug up a dozen coins more he stopped digging and called the experts. When the experts continued digging they uncovered a pot bellied pottery jar stuffed with the extraordinary collection. How the collection ended up underground remains a mystery but achaeologists believe they must represent the life savings of an entire community. the hoard weights 160 kilos and wouldn't be easy to recover from the ground at all. no individual could carry the hoard on its own, so experts believe that the pot was first dug in and then filled up. The coins are likely to be declared treasure and could be worth up to 1m pounds.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/jul/08/hoard-roman-coins-somerset

Such an amazing find! I love such news articles because they are so extraordinary. When I read things like this I question myself how they did things back then a lot. Like how the hell did they build pyramids, nobody knows. Also, everytime I think: now everything is allready found but new things are being found still. I still wonder if Crisp will get any money beside credits. If I had found anything like this I would not rest until I would get my million. I would find it unfair if the museum is going to be a milion pounds richer because of the effort of David Crisp

Third of adults condone smacking, poll shows

new research shows that just 14% of adults think slapping children is an unacceptable form of punishment. A third of adults think slapping childre as young as six years old is a low-risk form of punishment, with almost half of older people believing parents can hit children with no fear of any effects as distress. The Children's Society is now calling on the government to make it illegal to slap children. They say that ''children are the only group of people in the country who can be legally hit on a regular basis by other with little protection in law. Among older adults there was a hadening of views. some 46% aged over 65 said slapping children was completely acceptable, compared with 27% of those aged 18 to 24. when asked what form of behaviour by a parent would trigger their alarm, calling their child stupid and not knowing where they are at was higher up the list than slapping.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/jul/08/smacking-children

slapping children on safe area's should be allowed as it is often the only way of reasoning with them. However, it should only be used as a last option. if you slap your child to much it will reduce its effectiveness. some sorts of behaviour should be punished heavier than others, like dangerous or violent behaviour. overall I think it is more interesting looking at the ''why'' rather than the ''how'' if we look at punishing.

Neet problem 'may be worse than previously thought'

A study has suggested that more teenagers in England may be out of education, training or employment (Neet) and for longer periods than previously thought. An audit commision study in 10 area's suggested that 25% of the 16 -18 year olds were categorised as neets at some point in a two year period. almost half of the 25% (43%) were neets foor at least six months. Chairman of the audit commision said: 'young people should be the future but tens of thousands are at risk. Long term effects are long term joblessness, ill-health and criminality. The £8.7bn set aside for training rarely reaches the most disadvantaged teenagers, the homeless or the ones in teenage parenthood, who are often children of parents who have themselves dropped out of school early

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/education/10524288.stm

according to the study the young people who would suffer from the long term effects would be another 10% of the remaing 43%. I did the maths and the answer was that one out of hundred would suffer from them. I think that the relative number seem scary but the absolute numbers don't even lift my shoulders once. I think those number are much higher in other countries where there is more poverty and bad education. I think the only thing that Britain can do about this is to contribute to the costs of education and level the differences in education

Incompetent teachers 'being recycled' by head teachers

In the las 40 years only 18 teachers have been struck off for incompetence. This is despite estimates that up to 17,000 teachers are not up to the job. Incompetent teacher are teacher who could not keep control in the classroom, had a lack of understanding of their subjects or might not even like their pupils. Some incompetent teachers moved between school by getting a good deal from the head teacher. head teachers who were unwilling to subject those suspected of incompetence to proper competence tests. instead they are being guven good references in exchange for agreeing to look for work in alternative schools.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/education/10464617.stm

I think that head teacher have to be tougher. This should not be possible even with the shortcoming on teachers. The teachers need to be given a reason to achieve competence. If not why would they? Also, parents need the assured that their kids get proper education. It would also be very easy for the teacher who are incompetent to become competent. If they would follow a minor about class management a lot of problems would be solved. Only the teachers who don't like their pupils are likely to be unwilling to become competent. Head teachers step up!

Twins snatched by mother are 'at risk of harm'

A woman who snatched her four year old twins from social workers mar have fled from their hometown skegness, Lincolnshire las thursday. The children were taken from her because the woman has a chronic and dangerous problem. therefore there were concerns about her ability to look after them. The 16 year old daughter pleaded for her mother and said that she was jest desperate to become a good family again, that she is fantastic and that she is so much more than her best friend. The father is outrageous about the fact that this could have happened under the care and responsibility of the Roseberry Avenue Contact Centre while the social workers were making a cup of tea. The judge told Lincoln County Court that the children are at serious risk of harm. Despite the effort of the police are the children still not found and they think she took them out of the country.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/may/25/father-appeals-twins-snatched-mother

My first thought was: If the mother is ruining the family, why are the children taken out of there? I think that the mother should be put in a clinic or so. If the mother would be in a clinic things would be perfectly safe for the children as their mother would be guarded. the second thing is that I agree with the father. it is mad that she could snatch the children that easy. Now it is the mother who snatched the children but what if the children were taken by a real bad guy like a kidnapper?

Man jailed for sex with autistic girl

A man who befriended a woman over the internet then had sex with her autistic teenage daughter was today jailed for more than three years.

Kevin Watson took the 15-year-old girl's virginity in her home when her mother left them alone last summer after telling her: "You. Upstairs. Bedroom. Now!"

They had sex again when Watson took the girl to a budget hotel and plied her with alcohol.

After chatting with the women over a period of time the fifty year old Watson drove from his home in East Sussex to County Durham to meet her and her family. During one of his visits to the family they had their first sex. During the next month they had sex several times more.

The defender said that Watson is not a predatory peadophile. "It was not in any way trying to get to a young girl via her mother". "It is simply the way it happened.’’

The offender had sec for five times with his victim and the judge says that he was fully aware of what he was doing. The judge sentenced him for 40 months and he is placed on the Sex Offender Register for life.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/man-jailed-for-sex-with-autistic-girl-1951645.html

Peadophealia is often seen as a decease, I find that hard to believe. Is being a heterosexual a decease as well then? And being a homosexual? Thinking of homosexuality as a decease is against the law but why do we see peadophealia as a decease? I think that it is defending peadophiles on forehand. Just because it is against the law we see it as a decease. That is the exact reason why Muslims see homosexuality as a decease. I do not buy it. I think that peadophiles are just as aware of their sexuality as heterosexuals and homosexuals are. I also think that they are fully aware of what they are doing to their victims and that it is against the law.

The other thing that I do not agree on in this article is the penalty that Watson is getting. The act on its own should earn him about 20 years and thinking about psychological effects on the girl should put him in jail for the rest of his life. Before reading this article I thought that it were just the Dutch penalties that were for sissies but now I think that the whole ‘’civilised western court world’’ is going mental.

Post worker throws £100,000 winning Lottery scratchcard in the bin... and it's incinerated!

Cemal Celikkanat, the post worker, threw away his Lottery scratchcard after winning a £100,000. The man had been buying scratchcards for over six years and thought that the same rules applied to all the tickets, not realising they had changed over time.

When Celikkanat bought his first ticket he had to have three winning symbols in a row to win a price but now he only needed three symbols on one card. Celikkanat found out what he had done the next day. When a colleague asked him to collect her price of a £25 he saw her ticket did not had three of the same symbols in a row but just three the same symbols.

The post worker raced back to the shop where he bought the ticket the next day to check the bin, but heard it had been emptied and that the contents had been taken to the incinerator. He did manage to get the the serial number of the winning ticket but the scratchcard company told him that they, unfortunately, needed the original ticket to cash out. The post worker himself says: ‘I threw away £100,000. I feel so terrible, I think about it every day, it's had a massive impact on my life.’

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1268067/Post-worker-throws-100-000-winning-Lottery-scratchcard-bin--incinerated.html

I first laughed my head off when I read this article but then I felt very sorry for the man. It is not his fault he is ignorant, he only bought scratchcard for the last six years. This tells us that he must be very stupid and that really is not his fault. Overall, I think that people who buy scratchcards are stupid or at least not thinking clear. I bought one once and afterwards I could only come up with the words: 'what was I thinking?'. I was not.

In the Netherlands the gambling taxes for prices worth more than €454 are 29%. The odds of the best scratchcards are one out of three with prices starting at one Euro. This means, if you would buy a scratchcards each week for five euro your worst case scenario will be: 52x5= €260 - 17 = a loss of €243 which is probably also the most common scenario.

already done with it!

after I tried two computers, I could finally open this site. then after three quarters of an hour I finally tackled this site... I'm done with it!
